The Jehovah’s Witnesses (also known as the Watchtower Society) are well-known for going door to door distributing literature to recruit new members. They are usually clean-cut, well-dressed, and very courteous people. There are probably very few among us who have never had a visit from them.
The Jehovah’s Witnesses consider themselves Christians because they believe they are serving the true and living God. They have strong convictions about Jesus and the Bible.
Like Catholics, Jehovah’s Witnesses say they are the one true church… but are they? To answer that question, consider the following…
The Jehovah's Witness organization denies that Jesus Christ is God. Instead, they teach that Jesus Christ is a created angel.
Jehovah's Witnesses deny that salvation is God's free gift. Instead, they teach that salvation must be earned or merited. To obtain salvation and escape judgment, a person must join and complete the works prescribed by the Jehovah's Witness organization
They claim Satan was entrusted with overseeing the creation of the earth.
They maintain all Bible translations are considered corrupt, except for their own New World Translation, which has been altered to reflect their beliefs.
They believe the doctrine of the Trinity is a pagan teaching.
They say Jesus did not die on the cross and that the cross is a pagan symbol.
Jehovah's Witnesses deny the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ… they teach that Jesus' body was dissolved into gases.
They teach the soul ceases to exist after death and there is no hell.
They believe if they remain faithful and obedient till the end, they will earn the right to be declared righteous. That’s why they have to keep on striving with no assurance of salvation. According to their core doctrines, only 144,000 Jehovah’s Witnesses will actually be saved. The rest do not expect to go to heaven. Rather, they believe themselves part of the Great Crowd that will never die but rather reside forever on earth.
They consider holidays such as Christmas, Easter, and even birthdays to be pagan in origin and not to be celebrated.
The Jehovah's Witness leadership predicted that the end of the world would come in 1914, 1915, 1918, 1925, 1942, and 1975. They claimed that Jesus would begin his invisible rule over the earth in 1914. They also predicted that Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob would be resurrected and return to the earth in 1925. Failed prophecy is a mark of false prophets. (Deuteronomy 18:21-22)
The Jehovah’s Witness religion clearly distorts the fundamental doctrines of Christianity. It denies both the deity of Christ and His physical resurrection. They reject the essential doctrine of salvation by grace through faith as a gift from God and not by works. (Ephesians 2:8-9). Sadly, it is a deceptive works-based system, with no repentance for one’s sins required.
Jehovah's Witnesses make up about 1% of the US population, with about 8.5 million members worldwide. Jehovah’s Witnesses display the characteristics of a
cult. They are told not to associate with anyone who is not a Jehovah’s Witness. They are directed to shun those who leave, so there is no way to learn why someone left… especially those who have found the truth in Christ. The organization uses people to pass out recruitment literature and send in any subsequent donations to their headquarters in New York.
If you do want to minister to them, it’s very difficult to break through as they are often unwilling to admit they have been deceived. When someone disagrees with them they are trained to promptly respond with stock answers. Almost always, they are not willing to listen to the truth because they are conditioned to avoid biblically knowledgeable people.
Jehovah’s Witnesses are not Christians. What to do then? Pray that God will show them the truth so that they will not continue to be deceived…

Yes they do not believe in blood transfusions either. They are sharing that on the streets!
Thanks Jim. There are more than a few around here and I was aware of some of their beliefs. I have worked with and for a few of them. A friend's wife has parents who became Witnesses. He has a comedic streak and made an observation to his father-in-law who also has a sense of humor or this could have gone bad. He mentioned to him that they don't celebrate brthdays. They don't celebrate Thanksgiving or Christmas but come over to eat and "visit with the family".
My friend told his father-in-law you people are just cheap!
