I would venture to guess that given human nature that pretty much anything and everything has been used at some point to deceive people. The fact that something was used to deceive in the past does not necessarily translate to proof of deception now.

This self discipline is not intended to be any source of inspiration but to try and understand the woke mind. The vagaries of WASP Protestant Evangelical Christianity are lost on many of the "immigrants" (and their children) that have been brought here over the past sixty years. San Diego is a sea of South, East, Southest Asians in the north (and increasingly, everywhere) and Hispanics in the south. Both groups are heavily propagandized to see themselves as victims (no matter that many/most Asians in San Diego are more financially well-off than 99% of the "white" people I knew growing up), and will see anyone who acknowledges their ethnic victim status as on their "side." There are "conservative" contingents in both the Asian and Hispanic communities, but their "conservatism" is often not of the WASP Anglo Protestant type, because culturally, most do not have ancestors here that go back to the 1600s and 1700s, much less 1965 (though I also realize this is also more complex with Hispanics).
As for the European-Americans who gravitate toward the Democrats, I suspect they can be divided into two camps: Aging "white" secular Silent Gen, Boomer, and Gen X-ers (like myself, though I no longer share any of these beliefs) who perceive America as permanently stuck in 1965, and Democratic Party as being "accepting," "tolerant," and "loving" towards "the other" (no matter who that "other" is), and standing up against "bully rich Republicans" for "ordinary people." Essentially, these people are all lapsed Puritans, Unitarians (and communist) in nature (even though many do not make this connection), and believe that they are doing God's/Christ's work in the world, while the GOP is of the devil. The other group that gravities toward the Democrats is more complex: multiethnic and "white" millennials and Zoomers who have zero connection to the WASP Protestant Christian (and secular) post-WWII America I grew up in, probably believe themselves to be abandoned by God, are Gnostic in nature (though they probably do not realize it) and frame God as the "angry tyrant" in the Genesis version of our world's creation. Most of these people do not believe in "sin," are in rebellion against the idea of tradition itself, hold sex and gender up as the highest good (even though they have less sex than previous generations), are globalist rather than nationalist in focus, believe that the "bigoted white conservative" is the root of all evil, and thus struggle to see themselves in any version of American history except the current one.

Yep, these people are in such deep darkness they truly cannot see objective truth, and certainly not true Godly joy. I pity them, I pray for them, yet I also pray they will be thwarted in their satanic endeavor. I must constantly refocus on my true object of hope--Jesus, the Son of Man.
