Mr M - thank you, and wholeheartedly agree w our need for getting deep biblical exposition. Do you know about Alistair Begg fr Truth for Life out of Ohio? Thoughts?
Also we live in North part of Atlanta and want a similar local church w these kinds of bible based foundation, do you or your audience have recommended pastors? Maybe a broader article where folks can share local experiences?
Thanks and may God bless you and your family during the Christmas Holidays.
I would add, Jack Hibbs, (Amir Tsarfati is close with him-and he spells it with an f not a v, so people find the right source as there are fakes out there trying to profit off his name), Tom Hughes, Tim Thompson, and Brandon Holthaus to that list as well. I’m forgetting one or two.
These and the ones you mentioned (I don’t know Justin, but all the rest I listen to), are all great and solid in their theology.
Jack Hibbs “Need to Know” series was especially instrumental in furthering my walk when I was lingering in the “baby Christian” stage for way too long for lack of solid teaching. Those who have just come to Christ really need to have that kind of teaching to understand “what’s next” which many churches lack. I would recommend it to every new believer.
Hi Jim - there is no motive behind this question apart from seeking the truth: why is the post-Reformation view of the Bible more valid to the Protestant church than the Septuagint of Jesus’s time?
That is, why is it valid for the so-called Apocrypha/Deuterocanonical books to be removed - when those were part of Jesus’s Bible - and the belief be held that that version of the truth is the whole truth when it’s very clearly lacking?
Because what I see from these Bible scholars and the rest who seem to take this view is similar to those who would cut down our US Constitution, claiming that certain sections once valid are now invalid - as Martin Luther did.
Good question… BY 250 A.D. the vast majority of Hebrew scholars considered the Apocrypha to be "good" historical and religious documents, but NOT on the same level as the Hebrew Scriptures.
The Apocrypha/Deuterocanonical books, included in some canonical lists by the Roman Catholic Church, were first recognized as inspired by the Councils of Hippo (AD 393) and Carthage (AD 397), but those councils were not ecumenical.
Opinions on their inspiration varied within the Roman Catholic Church until the Council of Trent (mid-1500s) officially declared them authoritative Scripture, largely in response to the Protestant Reformation. These books support practices such as praying to saints and almsgiving for grace, which some argue are inconsistent with biblical teachings. Critics claim the Apocrypha contains historical inaccuracies and doctrines that are not aligned with the rest of Scripture.
I thank God for his humble servants. Many years ago, I was searching and praying for a church home. I just needed a house where the word of God was preached, as long as that was happening and a true man of God was in the pulpit everything else would fall in place. In the interim I had John MacArthur and would listen to his sermons. His teachings were a blessing for me in that time of my life. I am thankful to have a church home and pray that anyone out there searching, as I was, or who is not able to go in person to service can find hope and comfort in one of the teachers you have recommended or another true servant of God and not be deceived or led by false doctrine.
Good recommendations. I particularly like John MacArthur.
I also listen to a lot of R.C Sproul ( Ligonier Ministries) and David Jeremiah. Both are great at exposition of biblical truth, the sovereignty of God, and the inerrancy of Scripture.
Jimmy Evans & others at endtimes.substack.com are great for seeing how current events, especially Israel, relate to end times prophecy. This has video and articles, free & paid content.
Need to add Paul Washer.
Will do!

Add to this list
Jack Hibbs. He’s a very good friend of Amir Tsarfati.

Well said!
I would add Marshall Ochs, pastor of Red Hills Church in Tallahassee, FL: Biblically sound and based teaching and exhortation.
Good recommendations. I particularly like John MacArthur.

I will give them an audience and check them out.
we’re gonna win
I learn so much from Billy Lambert of “Getting to Know Your Bible.” He does videos and has a podcast by the same name.
Truly excellent and edifying.
Thank You,
& Merry Christmas !
