This weekend marks the 4th anniversary of American Faith and Freedom's beginnings in July of 2019. I’m humbled by the fact we are now being read in all 50 states and 18 foreign countries. Thank you for your support over these years, with an exceptional thank you to those who have been with me since the beginning!
Our culture is now vastly different than in the summer of 2019. For the most part, America was still considered a Christian nation... but all that has rapidly changed for the worse. As a result, we are now living in a post-Christian America. And because of America’s growing rejection of the true Gospel of Jesus Christ, we are fast becoming a nation of hedonistic pagans.
Why do I believe this?
Because of the overwhelming success of the Barbie movie...Yes, I know that over the last two weeks, I have been relentlessly trying to make the argument that this movie will significantly contribute to the total corruption of our culture.
Mattel’s “Barbie” movie broke box office expectations, grossing $155 million in the U.S. during its opening weekend. Fueled by a $150 million marketing budget and promotional tie-ins with corporate America, the film now ranks as 2023’s best domestic opening weekend. This sad excuse for a movie collected another $182 million from 69 overseas markets, bringing its global total to $337 million. It will doubtless go on to set more records. Barbie has already surpassed The Super Mario Bros Movie, and every Marvel film released this year. Some analysts speculate Barbie could become a $1 billion hit.
With the overwhelming majority of Barbie moviegoers being female consumers, the movie is expected to have a significant cultural and commercial impact for months, even years to come... think Halloween costumes, transgender dolls, pink clothing, and loads of rainbow-themed Barbie toys at Christmas.
Culturally, the movie demeans real women, who, as mothers, have a Biblical responsibility to any children they may bear to educate and nurture them to grow as godly men and women... not to abort them, expose them to the rank evil of drag queens, pornography in schools, and movies like Barbie.
What can we do against this avalanche of evil? We must stand firm in our faith in Jesus Christ. He will not let us down or abandon us. Standing firm in our faith means resisting the temptation to compromise our Biblical values or lash out at those who oppose us. As Christians, we are to be set apart... even when that puts us at odds with a world increasingly dominated by LGBTQ+ values. Even though our culture is in a death spiral, we are to hold fast to God’s Word by reading, studying, and acting upon it...
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:2)
(Even this verse is being demonically twisted by so-called pastors who would affirm the LGBTQ+ lifestyle... saying they should not conform to this country’s historical norm of Judeo-Christian values and that we as Christians should not either.)
I urge all of you to double down on your prayers for those who are lost and who would approve of the evils of the day... abortion, genital mutilation of children, child trafficking, and rampant homosexuality.
